Bringing the War Home
World War I Through The Stereoscope

California Museum of Photography
September 22, 2018 - January 27, 2019

Marking the centennial of Armistice, this exhibition explores the multifaceted ways in which World War I was both represented and consumed through stereoscopic photographic technologies in the twentieth century. It seeks to assess the modes of vision and observation at work in these images, situate these optics within specific historical contexts, and evaluate the ways in which these photographs remain integral to understanding the Great War.

The exhibition highlights the California Museum of Photography’s extensive WWI-era archival holdings from the Keystone-Mast Collection.
