Yda Ziment has long explored the creative process and the power of art to express our deepest fears, our hidden desires, our loves, our losses, our secrets.  This yearning for expression is one of the most fundamental of artistic (and human) pursuits.  It may also be one of the most difficult of ambitions.  Streams of consciousness, the meaning of dreams, our nightmares and our joyous memories; these are paths we all explore in our own way, and for an artist like Yda Ziment, the path is a ceaseless journey of self-discovery and wonder.

Ziment writes of her art-making process: “When I work, unconscious images are allowed into my awareness.  My works are multi-leveled symbolic expressions of dreams and unconscious images.   While working I have no set of pre-intentions, rather I have sensations, feelings, dreams, thoughts, and phantasies.  I hope to not be self-conscious and to allow the moment and time of my being.”

Yda Ziment has a B.A. and M.F.A. in art from U.C.L.A., as well as a degree in clinical psychology.
