oil on linen 52 x 40", framed

"We are grateful to guest curator Judith Kendall whose insight and knowledge of the professional career and life of Alyce Frank presents a seldom seen side to the artist – her mentorship and patronage of Taos artists" says Paul Figueroa, President, Taos Arts Council." "Alyce Frank's expressionistic landscapes are beloved throughout the Southwest and nationally" states Judith Kendall. "However, few are aware of her generosity towards Taos artists throughout more than four decades painting, on site, the northern New Mexico landscape".

Frank's collection is filled with strong, independent female artists: Barbara Zaring, Marsha Oliver, Marsha Skinner, Teruko Wilde, Tracy Turner Sheppard, Jennifer Lynch, Leigh Gusterson, Jane Ellen Burke and Suzanne Wiggin to name a few as well as Bill Davis, Rod Goebel, Brian Shields and Pat Woodall. An on-line catalog may be found at www.judithkendall.com.

The exhibition is part of the Council's Art in Public Spaces project and is supported in part by New Mexico Arts, a division of the Department of Cultural Affairs, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Please direct any inquiries regarding art in the collection and that of Alyce Frank to Judith Kendall or (575) 613-2412. A portion of sales benefit the Taos Arts Council, a 501-c-3 organization, that is an advocate for artists and arts organizations in Taos County and northern New Mexico. The services and programs of the Council promote awareness, understanding and appreciation of all of the creative arts. There are numerous public art collections, open for visits, in Taos including Town Library, Taos Volunteer Fire Department and Holy Cross Hospital.

The next Taos Arts Council show at Town Hall is a highlight and introduction for studio tours. "Taos and Beyond: Open Studio Tours and Trails in Northern New Mexico" from September 8 – November 10, 2017, highlights the participating artists and offers information for events in Questa (August 25 & 26), Taos Artists Organization (September 2-4), High Road Artisans Tour (September 16 & 17 and 23 & 24) and El Rito (September 30 & October 1) among others.
