The Gallery features seven paintings by the internationally acclaimed artist, Agnes Martin (1912-2004), created in 1993 when Martin returned to Taos from New York. The gallery was built specifically for these paintings, creating a space comparable to the Rothko Chapel in Houston.

This museum-wide exhibition of art by women in the collections of the Harwood Museum of Art includes paintings by the wives of Taos Society of Artists (1915-1927) painters, female santeras, and contemporary women working in large scale abstractions.

The exhibition continues through May 13, 2018.

Horses have been a part of every aspect of life in the Southwest since the sixteenth century. This exhibition features paintings by Pop Chalee and Eva Mirabal of Taos Pueblo, Archie Blackowl of Cheyenne decent, Frank P Vigil and Rudolf Treas, Apaches.

Wells states, "The paintings seem to me to bring out questions one could ask about "reality": what is real or appears so but isn't, the weaving of events that create a situation, about rhythms and relationships, about thoughts or ideas we have but don't manifest, how does a mere definition by a line create the impression of something (like saying something is so, makes it appear so – politicians for example)."
