The Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA) is seeking proposals for our third Exploring Engagement artist-in-residence project, which will utilize Southern California’s contentious relationship with transportation as its point of departure.

Working through a public project platform artists are asked to establish previously unimagined experiences and conversations as an expansion of their process. In this way, all residency projects must be carried out in public venues, be free to the public and take place over an extended period of time ranging from two weeks to two months. Selected artists will also be required to be an active participant in a minimum of one educational program (i.e. lecture, panel discussion, performance, and/or workshop) that will be presented to an audience at OMA. Interested artists are to follow the submission guidelines outlined below. Each artist may submit up to two applications. Two artists, artist teams or arts organizations will be selected to carry out their proposed projects.

Honorarium:

Two selected artists/artist teams will each be awarded $3,000 for their successful execution and completion of their selected artist residency project. This stipend must cover all costs for the artist including: artists’ time, materials, travel, labor, hired contractors (if any) and any/all other expenses used to create the work and carry out the interactive public residency.
