Suhas Bhujbal, "A Quiet Town 58," 2009, oil on canvas, 75 x 70", at Dolby Chadwick.
Architectural cityscapes by Suhas Bhujbal are composed of rough planes of color interrupted by layers of overlapping and dripping paint simultaneously create the illusion of depth while confronting the surface of the canvas. In "Reincarnation" Bhujbal the architectural structure of paint meets up with the architecture of the street, sometimes keeping the street in and other times leaving it behind. But what, you might ask, is being reborn?
