“Ever to Find” is a sleek and sensual sculptural exhibition in which Sharon Engelstein channels the human form. The artist’s glazed ceramic works are sinuous and seductive, smoothly misshapen paeans to body and soul. Curved and amorphous, “Leg Foot” is just that and so much more, a living organism, a freeze frame of a mysterious alien creature as much as it is a body part. “Accidental Medicine” pulses with a pink wound that evokes flesh. “Blind Mask” seems to bleed from two tiny holes. Each work can be seen as if a shape shifter were conjuring what it means to be human, part by part. Engelstein’s work conjoins an element of whimsy with organic shapes that are roughly based on anatomy and partly the creation of imagined and mysterious entities. Her current ceramics are a natural outgrowth of the artist’s previous sculptural works in clay and 3-D modeling, cool and elliptical, static yet fluid
