Continuing through April 8, 2017
Joe Bradley is a New York based artist who fills the gallery with a series of large-scale abstract oils. Huge swaths of solid primary colors — yellow, black, red, blue — dominate the works, many of which are then divided into smaller rectangles. Reminiscent of the paintings of Hans Hoffman, the works are formal explorations of the tensions between gestures and colors. In addition to these large-scale abstract expressionistic paintings, Bradley also exhibits a series of smaller works on paper in the upper gallery that hint at the origins for the paintings below.
