Seven projections in a darkened gallery space comprise "Patterns Bigger Than Any of Us." Consider the relationship between Pat O'Neill's two-channel installation "No Wonder — Two Skins" (2013) and Jesse Fleming's five-channel work "A Theory of Everything" (2015). Both artists manipulate appropriated imagery weaving found fragments into compelling new narratives. O'Neill's subtle and ethereal footage juxtaposes images drawn from the Prelinger Archives as well as clips from education films from the 1940s and 1950s.

O'Neill fades, layers and manipulates these disparate sources to achieve a dream-like poetic resonance. Fleming montages footage culled from years of collecting video clips from online sources such as You Tube, juxtaposing aspects of TED talks, new age propaganda films, scientific renderings, dancers and marching bands. In five videos projected simultaneously onto one wall, Fleming sequences selected fragments that call attention to the relationship between the self and others in a media saturated world.
