Tamrat is a painter and a performance artist form Addis Ababa, Ethiopia currently working as a full time studio artist. Tamrat studied painting at the Ale School of Fine Art and Design, at the Addis Ababa University. After completing his studies in 2000, Tamrat prolifically created a large number of works and he actively participates in the local art movement. Tamrat is one of the founding members of Netsa Art Village, a cooperative that provided a working and display space for artist in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Tamrat participated in a number of local and international art exhibitions, events and residency programs. To mention some, he exhibited at the Goethe Institute, Alliance Ethio-Frances, Addis Fine Art Gallery, Guramayne Gallery, Asni Gallery and Lela Gallery in Addis Ababa. Tamrat has also shown internationally in Egypt, Kenya, Germany, Spain, USA, UAE, Sweden and Norway.
