For her second solo exhibition at Upfor, New York based artist Katie Torn presents new collages and video works. Torn builds fantastical virtual totems using the detritus of consumerist culture. Assembling the color, texture and whimsy of early modernist painting, Torn crafts hyperreal fairytale spaces and experimental video works using tools commonly employed in commercials and Hollywood films.
Low Tide is the third in a series of three solo exhibitions by gallery artists working primarily in media art, which culminates in a collaborative presentation of work by all three artists (Morehshin Allahyari, Brenna Murphy and Katie Torn), on view August 23 through September 2, 2017. This exhibition series began with Morehshin Allahyari's She Who Sees The Unknown: Huma, which exhibits June 1 through 24, 2017.
